LisasMiles 32:365

8.5 miles with an average pace 9.49 min/mile - that's worth a big smile, especially as it felt very hard work for the first 2 miles.
And I saw the beautiful ponies, managing to capture a picture before my phone inexplicably decided to 'run out of battery' with 49% battery left... Quite annoying as there were other sights I wanted to capture, including more ponies and the sun going down over the lake.
The battery on my iPod Shuffle ran out with 3 miles to go and I quite enjoyed listening to myself breathing and the park sounds. It was quite soothing but no sure I'd have enjoyed it as much if I'd be struggling at that point.

Nice to see Bob Alex and Harry this morning accompanying 'Uncle' Charlie to church. Worship group were particularly appreciative of Bob clapping our rehearsal!

In other news, I think I'm becoming addicted to Wasabi peas!

I decided to tackle Cardiac Hill today on my run. Seemed a good idea at the time as I wanted to go in the park and needed to be out by 4 as it would be getting too dark by then. Unfortunately the wind was in my face much of the way and it was hard work. Just about to lose the ability to breath, I looked up and a pony appeared ahead of me, wandering across the road. As I got closer, his friend was munching nearby. The wild ponies that live in the park are very shy and I've never seen them there before so it was quite a surprise, but a pleasant one. Unfortunately I didn't have my 'phone with me so no picture but I took one in my head!
Other smiles today:
finding various small cuddly creatures hidden around the house.
becoming riveted by the darts final - never thought that would happen!
the smell of clean washing.

And finally incredulity at this snippet of Fox News - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwq8Bwr9wUg - turned to amusement at the hashtag #FoxNewsFacts on Twitter as people came up with other preposterous facts that Fox News may(or may not) have broadcast!

This was posted by my friend Fátima. An inspiring lady. I've never seen her without a smile on her face, whatever the circumstances, and she makes me smile. Huge hugs to you guapa xx

And this little chap is so cute!

I've finally finished planning a mammoth presentation - it's taken all week.
The sun shone at just the right time for me to sit and enjoy my lunch.
Isaac's y10 review meeting went really well and I managed to speak to the lovely Mr W without blushing ;)
I watched the last episode of Prey and John Simm was proved innocent. Hurrah!
And John will be home tomorrow.
(That's my husband not Mr Simm just to clarify)  😉

A hedgehog is not a normal sight at an educational (un)conference but Teachmeet is never predictable. And I managed to win a Hue webcam for my tweet about it:
A good time in Stafford earlier as I spoke at a conference; loved the enthusiasm of the teachers.
The sun shone as I drove to and from conferences today, and I wasn't locked on the car park at the NEC as I'd feared. Plus I didn't have to pay to park. Hurrah!

Rediscovering a silly song that I composed to teach family members in Spanish made me smile today. Hope Y3 like it tomorrow!
PE INSET was amusing - smacking my face into the serving hatch wasn't exactly fun, but if anyone is going to have a mishap, it had to be me!
An obsession in Year 4 with putting a duck billed platypus into stories made me smile - in Spanish, it's un ornitorrinco btw!
Jude's trumpet playing also made me smile as did his reaction when I commented that I think he's grown.

Jude a year ago!

Half way through my working week - but two full days with break duties on both and an assembly to finish me off Thursday.

Smiles 266:365

Not been the best day but I've still smiled.

The looks on the faces of some staff at briefing this morning as it was announced that the Head had bought a double decker bus for the school grounds.
The children who greet me with a cheery ¡Hola!
Managing to mark all the books I needed to mark in the time I'd allotted.
The return of Only Connect.
Laughing with my boys at Sean Locke's desire to have a meerkat.

And recalling the conversation yesterday about this lovely lopsided boar and his large 'equipment'  ;)

Lisibo went running today, e i e i o
And in her run she saw some horses, e i e i o ...

Well, you get the idea! Lots of wildlife. The horses made me smile as they were all asleep. And the dark brown one had its head under the tail of the small brown one, in the firing line if you get my drift!

As Tilly Tom and Tiny would say "lovely donkeys"

And chilled out goats.
And then there were the beautiful cows.

All in all a very smiley run.

Post run, other things made me smile.

The boys did some tidying and sorting unasked!
The Gemeinde confounded our expectations and said we had aaaaages to get things sorted with them before we move.
Cycle ride, table tennis and exercise equipment on a sunny evening.

Things you see walking down Winti Marktgasse... Yesterday it was a man shopping on a Segway; today, a man shopping on his horse!

Smiles 148:365

After a drizzly start ("it won't rain until 5pm' said my usually very reliable weatherman!) the sun came out = :o)

And look what I nearly cycled over. It was playing dead - or may actually have been dead - and had disappeared by the time the boys came past later. Disappointing.

There was much smiling this evening as Jude told us about his 'boys only' lesson today. The conversation included talk of Speedos, rudders and sharks, and was unrepeatable but very funny.

A picture from my Scoop it stream today (you can look at all the posts via the 'widget' on the right hand side of this blog.
For those of you that don't speak Spanish, it says 'Smiling is free. You should do it more often.'

May Day is a holiday in Winterthur so we had a family bike ride this afternoon to see the alpacas. The uphills were not popular with Jude and I but we enjoyed swooping down a hill towards the river!

And as we watched the football, Isaac once more commented that the name of Shakira and Gerard Piqué's son, Milan Piqué Mebarak, sounds just like festival. He has a point!

In German, you ask people to say Käsekuchen or cheesecake.

Smiles 113:365

You never know what you'll find when you open the fridge. Apparently they're contemplating...

Other things that made me smile
Going for a 5.5 mile run before RedRun training
The inability of a group of women to agree on a date to go out together - a date was fixed then the organiser remembered she had Beyonce tickets for that night...
Great reports about Isaac from his teachers.

Smiles 103:365

A sunny day - and no coat! :o)
I sat outside this afternoon and read my book - spring has finally sprung with some sun.

More smiles today
I managed a run after a week of having to rest my foot/leg and didn't end up limping so that's an achievement.
On hearing "The boys are back in town", Isaac said 'Ah, that's by Skinny Lizzy isn't it?'
Alpaca pictures taken by Isaac and John on their bike ride.
Trying out the new scan as you shop at Migros - which worked fine until paying then went wrong so we ended up with 17 Twisters - boys loved that!

And here are the alpaca pictures. Sure the brown one is smiling!

Smiles 101:365

I smiled as soon as I woke this morning as Kathy had shared this gorgeous little chap with me via Facebook. He's called Duncan and was rescued along with another calf. They had to wear jumpers as they were so frail. I do love cows!

Other things that made me smile today
Lunch in Tibits with Lisa.
Ironing whilst watching Peter Kay's Tour that didn't Tour. I hadn't quite finished when I had to pick up the boys so they saw the last 20 minutes and were laughing like drains.
It wasn't icy cold - I nearly discarded my coat...
The kitchen was clean and tidy for more than four hours!!!

Today is the start of a new language meme - how to encourage people to smile when taking a photograph. It's called
Say Cheese in other languages.
In English - say cheese!

I found this picture on the Zürich Marathon Flickr stream. Loving cows as I do, it made me smile broadly. I might even change my avatar...

Smiles 94:365

Today is one of those days when my smile slipped a bit - the hacking of my website was less easily sorted than we'd hoped and required a complete wipe and rebuild, just as lots of people were wanting to look at it. It's still not done - and I feel dreadful as I can't do anything. A friend hosts it and is having to do all the work for me.

And that's where's smile came back. I am so fortunate to have such a kind lovely friend. Especially as we have never actually met. He's about as far north as you can get in Scotland without ending up in the sea and I'm now in Switzerland. Our friendship was formed discussing edtech on Sunday nights via videocon and cemented 'heckling subversively' on the back channel. I've sent him cake and he's sent me a toffee apple every year (including in Switzerland although Customs ate it I fear!) and we have a shared love of cows. And once I calmed down today, I spent a while thinking about all that and smiling.
So, thank you Sinclair for being such a hero. And thank you for the smiles }:8)
PS love to Angus!

I love all the cute animals pictures that pop up on my FB/Twitter feeds and here are some of the ones that have caused Jude to utter the 'A' word -
