An assembly on imagining today made me smile. It was fun to plan and, apart from a few chatty kids, fun to deliver too. And it was lovely to see the looks on the kids' faces when I shared these two quotations about imagination. I think there were a few 'dreamers' in the audience and, when I said at the end "and don't forget, if you can imagine it",  a few whispered, "you can achieve it."

I also smiled earlier in the day when two y2 girls sang their role play in the 'frutería' - very cute but also sensible as we'd learned a song that included all the vocabulary they needed.

And Zumba was a fun challenge!

Catching Reception rehearsing for their class assembly was lovely - they sang me their ¡Hola! song.
Great face pulling in PSHE - some very scary 'jealous' faces!
And a fun staff meeting doing ceramics. My effort is currently drying. Not sure what it is as we were just learning joining techniques. However, I'm sure it'll become something!

I was not smiling last night when I saw the snow and contemplated a drive to Handsworth this morning. Nor was I smiling for much of the journey, firstly due to iced and then due to the odd driving of other road users when there was no snow or ice on the road but they insisted on driving as if there was.
I did smile when I got inside school, although the biggest smile was when I left school to discover that all the ice had melted - yippee!

An INSET day so no teaching - and it was a good one that kept me engaged which is a bonus!
Home at a decent time.
Time with my boys.
And a bubbly bath.

A day of talking animals and zoos, a fire drill at lunchtime thanks to someone's toast and lots of laminating whilst watching Broadchurch.

I made the acquaintance of another y2 class this morning and had some very interesting conversations! I seemed to puzzle some of them which amused me whilst others told me their life stories as soon as they met me.
Conversation at lunchtime turned to extra digits - I think we got there from binary but not sure! - and Joe's tale of the two thumbed perfume seller had us crying with laughter.
And after school - ZUMBA! How I've missed trying to beat my lack of rhythm and coordination into submission! I hope Miranda and the Zumba mums would be proud of me - I wore my vest with pride and although there was no bull fighting or 'dulce de leche', I did my best!

A loooong day but a good one. Lots of marbles awarded and only 1 lost - an achievement for a Wednesday afternoon! I even had groans from some when I told them it was time to pack away, and that's not usual!
I had a laugh as I played pied piper to an assortment of children who needed picking up; I seemed to gather more as I walked along, starting with 4, losing 2 then ending up with 6 by the time we reached our destination. I'll take my recorder next week!
And we all ending up in hysterics in Isaac's room earlier whilst he was trying hard to do his homework; can't remember why we were there and what was so funny but I remember the laughing!

Six years ago today I posted this picture with the caption 'I'm surrounded my lazy men!'
Times have changed! Have to say that none of us have been on the WiiFit for ages but John cycles, Isaac cycles and rows and Jude goes to his spinning / exercise class every week as well as Boys Brigade so they're not so bad!

Things that made me smile today:
Back to school (second time this week) and shoehorning the entire school into the hall for assembly. A child suggesting that one of the Headteacher's New Year resolutions was to "drink more" had us giggling! (If you add "water", they were correct.
A child misunderstanding what I said by taking me literally and thinking that their teacher would actually tell me to go away and not teach their class - he was quite indignant on my behalf.
Two unexpected lads were my stars of the afternoon. Don't know what happened to them but I like it!
And I fitted in a run before tea. A short one but that's Jantastic kicked off!
Today's picture was actually taken in Vienna but I'd forgotten about it.
New uses for coffee stirrers!

Laughter therapy was... Fun!
Lots of smiling and laughing exercises. And an epic marshmallow battle that continued longer than Laughing John had intended, including into the relaxation phase; when we were supposed to be lying on the floor chilling, I was being pelted with marshmallows. Not sure if this was because I'd been chucking them previously or because I was next to the head teacher and was getting the fallout! Either way, it was great fun.
Water fight at the end of term I think!

Physio this afternoon - getting an appointment made me smile as did my pathetic attempt at balancing on one foot. The exercises did not make me smile as they made my ankle hurt. It's for my own good though!

HIGNFY had some classic lines tonight. And I'm looking forward to catching up with The Fast Show. I was upstairs having a bath and missed most of it.

And it's half term!

Big smile today as I walked to Sutton and wandering slowly around the shops. And my ankle didn't object too much.
Also pleased that I've got a Physio appointment tomorrow; the Dr said it would be 2 weeks before an appointment which is ridiculous!
And we have laughter therapy at school today so I'm going in to get the benefit. I'll report back!
My "new hobby" has entered a new phase! I bought a loom in Poundland so have an alternative way of joining elastic bands (see wrist in front of my UP Band)
Since taking the picture I've made another 5 including a LFC one and a Swiss one.

This was posted by my friend Fátima. An inspiring lady. I've never seen her without a smile on her face, whatever the circumstances, and she makes me smile. Huge hugs to you guapa xx

And this little chap is so cute!

I've finally finished planning a mammoth presentation - it's taken all week.
The sun shone at just the right time for me to sit and enjoy my lunch.
Isaac's y10 review meeting went really well and I managed to speak to the lovely Mr W without blushing ;)
I watched the last episode of Prey and John Simm was proved innocent. Hurrah!
And John will be home tomorrow.
(That's my husband not Mr Simm just to clarify)  😉

A meeting of mobility scooters made me smile - I met Mum coming in the opposite direction and we caused a few raised eyebrows (mine newly threaded) as we had a chat.
A jet lagged John trying to help me clothes shop from the other side of the world via Whatsapp also amused me.
And conquering (well beginning to conquer!) writing reports on SPTO made me smile. It's a teacher thing!

Thanks to my Mum, I can get out and about fairly independently on her mobility scooter. It's quite a sight and I do get some double takes as I'm not your average mobility scooter operator!

Today I went out and passed the local infant school where there were two teachers and ten children lined up. One of the children shouted "I know her!" As I crossed the zebra crossing. I asked if they were doing a traffic survey and they said yes. So I asked if I counted and they said 'oh yes! We've taken your picture!'
That made me smile all the way to the shops and back.

Other smiles included people jumping out of my way in case I ran them over, a lady putting my shopping on the belt for me in Aldi, sitting in the sunshine eating lunch and finishing a good book.

Back to work - still deaf in one ear but getting there. Lots of smiles today as I had to keep telling children to stand the other side of me as I couldn't hear them. They found this very amusing! I told them I'd need an ear trumpet next - and had to explain what  I meant!

Struggling to find the energy to do much except work and then collapse at the moment but I can still manage the odd smile!
Year 2 always make me smile - the simplest game fills them with such excitement (getting them organised is therefore interesting!) and the clamour for the 'extra toast' is always amusing too.
I have done with school for the week now but am off to London tomorrow to speak at a conference. Looking forward to that but not getting up at 530, nor tackling the Northern Line in the rush hour. Still, I might see some of the 'guerilla tube stickers'

No voice and feel rotten but you have to smile when the kid with the most problems and needs in the class greets you with a smile every time he sees you and enthusiastically sticks up his hand even when he doesn't know the answer because he enjoys Spanish so much!

(Translation : Smile. Today is an excellent day to be proud to be who you are)

Who says being a teacher is boring? You never know what you'll find going on in the hall as you walk through. I certainly wasn't expecting to find the head teacher doing the Dirty Dancing lift with the ICT manager (ably assisted for safety reasons by Y3 teacher and Y4 TA!)
Pretty impressive and certainly just what I needed on a day when I struggled to keep my Little Miss Sunshine smile.

Also cheered by a run and the discovery of a single daffodil in the garden. Think it's someone sending me a message?

Buds on the trees.

A good day at school with Y2 making me smile so much first thing in the morning and Y6 exasperating me but making me smile in spite of myself. And I cracked a joke in assembly that amused me but went straight over the kids' heads!

I was mid sentence about family words in Spanish this afternoon when I looked up and out of the unusual skylight and spotted a tree covered in blossom. Cue the entire Y3 class being invited to look up with me.
And on my return home...

Hurrah! Spring is springing up all over our garden!

Also making me smile today, a fun staff meeting that involved singing HSM, demonstrating passion with Josh the NQT and dancing badly.

WCPS staff - I salute you for humouring me and joining in with HipHopPhonics (thanks @senoraelliott) at my staff meeting. You are an exceptional bunch.
Wish I'd taken pictures... ;)

I can walk this morning - first cause of a smile.

Exhausted but not stiff. I ran a couple of seconds faster than I thought - another smile. Y4 were fun - less said about the rest of the day the better! Still, all work done in time for bath and bed at a decent hour. Night!

This advertisement causes oohs and aahs in the house, and also demands for the purchase of more digestives 'just in case...'
