Today's smiles:
A lie in.
I made biscuits and everyone liked them.
Being deafened by husband and youngest as Tottenham scored five TES against Chelsea.
My nephew is here for a sleepover and enjoyed his dinner including 8 carrots!
Watching a film together.
Twitter conversations with people I haven't spoken to in ages.
A tidy desk!

And I know I've shared this already on my website but this comment from a 104 year old Spanish lady when talking about good and bad things in life strikes a chord -
"Lo importante es sencillamente eso - vivir."
(The most important is simply this - to live)

I am a smiley person, it's true. But I can be a grumpy person too sometimes and this morning I was feeling very grumpy. And cross. And fed up.

And things didn't improve much when Liverpool were beaten, Johnny Brownlee was beaten and Dan Martin fell with 100m to go in Liege-Baston-Liege.

What made me smile again?

We sang "Crown him with many crowns" at church, we sang the proper words and we sang my favourite verse about God being creator of the rolling spheres, ineffably sublime. Anyone who knows me well knows that this is very important to me. And that includes our minister Donald who commented in it as I left church.

Secondly I discovered the picture at the top in a post about iPad apps, made especially for me. Thanks Erzsi! Sorry it took me so long to see it!

Then I couldn't fail to smile at the prize Mark Cavendish received for wining the stage in the Tour of Turkey. He'll get very bunged up if he eats all of those...

And then there was this picture someone tweeted earlier.

Most of all though it was realising, prompted by some tweets, that I have two lovely sons and a wonderful husband, and that means I'm very lucky.

John is home! :0)

And he bought me some beautiful flowers. They smell delightful too.

Funny comments of the day:
"You can switch to HD if you want, Jude, but it won't improve the quality of the acts!"
"I've never heard the word 'deluge' before"
The long running saga of the glass.

And I smiled broadly at the reaction of the Norwich fans who, in response to chants of "you're going down" from MUFC fans, shouted "Liverpool!" and sang "You'll never walk alone". Class!

Thank you to my little sister who came today armed with nail varnish to paint my toenails red to match my cast. Very pretty they are too - and the other foot matches!
Family lunch and time listening to Bob saying Hello and oooooo! repeatedly made me smile. In fact Bob could make me smile just by being him!
Enjoying the programme about BBC2 - lots of memories!
And Liverpool won! #WeGoAgain

Jude made his first cake today - not bad given his teacher ;) and it was delicious.
The boys gave me a lovely necklace for Mothers Day and made me several cups of tea. And their cards were hilarious.

Liverpool won 4-0 (half the house are unamused by the result) and are top of the league.

And Jude's tweet a fortnight ago about a poster in M&S has been retweeted over 30 times this evening for some reason. Possibly helped by it being retweeted by Phil Willis from Radio5! Jude is very chuffed! (At time of publishing , 36 retweets and 11 favourites!)h

Spring has sprung. Let's hope it sticks around as I personally like the sunshine!

To escape the paint fumes, Isaac wrapped up in several jumpers and a hat and sat by the open back door. He then tried to watch TV from the garden but was thwarted by being unable to undo the window as there was no key and he couldn't hear. So he came in and sat on the window sill next to the other window that would open!
The ongoing adventures of Harold, Maude and friends recounted by Bev (who is stuck in hospital bless her) continue to amuse me, as did a discussion about how it would be do much better to be in hospital of your doctors were JD and Turk from Scrubs!

Liverpool won and are now 2nd in the Premier League.
The Fulham manager's glasses are rather amusing too.

My neighbour in Winti told me "you puzzle people because the Swiss don't walk around smiling for no apparent reason." Perhaps she had a point given the quotation above.

Being 'starred' person in worship group usually means you have to get out and put away the music, but today I was "preacher's pet" as I came in on time for all the songs in pre-church rehearsals. That made me smile :)

A run with (so far!) no ill effects.

Liverpool won 4-3 against Swansea.

Dinner was delicious although we need more duck next time!

February 18th is always going to be a tricky day. But memories bring smiles as well as tears. Eating liquorice, steamed puddings for tea, yelling some choice phrases and stomping up the stairs to pretend-steal a cuddly dog all made us smile, as did our decision to stop short of causing ourselves injury just do we could apply the obligatory steri-strips that would so often be required after a "little mishap".
Barcelona beat Man City watched by BBB (that'd meet with approval) and the Winter Olympics was spectacular.
Couldn't find any yellow roses today but I have tulips and pictures.
Love you higher than the sky Daddy x

Another picture from yesterday as it's one of John's.
"Isaac atop hillock in a muddy squelchy field with moon and tree."

Today's smiles involved making biscuits, running (6 miles at nearing a decent pace) watching Sherlock and Liverpool winning 5-3 (and being on MOTD2 first so I'm not asleep and miss it!)

And clean sheets. I agree with the friend who put on FB the other week that they'd have clean linen every day if only they didn't have to wash and change it themselves!

I found this chap in the toilet at the Hyundai dealership. Certainly made me smile! Not sure they could believe I was so amused by their toilet brush holder!

Another big smile today - being able to watch MOTD in bed for the first time in 2 years. Not going to fall asleep watching it tonight though. Foot too annoying :(

Smiles 226:365

Thought for the day!

Smiles today :
a decent game of football between England and Scotland
a visit from Julie and Harry
watching the boys mucking about in the garden
listening to earnest discussions about filming
regular reports of who had 'accidentally' hit who in the unmentionables
last night before John comes home from USA

The boys had another football match this evening. All came back hot and sweaty!
Beautiful school behind, isn't it?

Stress level rising. Smiles persisting!

Jude announced on our evening walk "I apologize for breaking into a random skipping spasm."  Isaac then joined in, promptly losing a Croc!

Spain won 10-0 against Tahiti. Not exactly an evenly matched contest...

It was actually cool at 10pm rather than as hot as at 12pm.

I managed to run for an hour this morning without dying of heat exhaustion. Should've waited until 10pm obviously!

Smiles 145:366

A trip to Konstanz this morning began with these very nicely presented - and very tasty! - beverages, and continued with lots of productive shopping.

And then this evening, we went into Zürich to watch the Champions League final in the Kaiser Franz pub. Except we watched it from outside as the people inside were spilling out of the door. Good view of the screen though!
And as we stood on the pavement, a load of Italian Catholics processed down the road, celebrating a saint's day (we think!)

Carb loading now ready for tomorrow...

Smiles 99:365

I received this today - rather snazzy!

And we received the above from the lovely Hallybones. As a Spurs fan, Jude was particularly excited although Isaac was pleased too as a football fan. Thank you so much! One day we'll think of something nice to do for you!

The sun came out today - that made me smile.
My blog stayed online all day - that made me smile.
I caught up with 4 hours of Broadchurch - that was good though the subject matter is not exactly smile inducing!

Smiles 62:365

Spotted this evening on Stadthausstrasse.
YNWA :)
Don't think much of their other allegiance though... Should be FCWinti!

More smiles to be had watching Top Gear. In fact, watching the boys watching Top Gear made me smile even more!
