I need this T-shirt!
When all else fails I put on my trainers and run. Had to wait until 830pm for the temperature to drop sufficiently though. 4.25 miles later and I felt significantly more chilled.
Prior to that Y3 made me smile. Skip a bit and I smiled when Isaac demonstrated that a competitive spirit can overcome shyness as he won the icebreaker challenge at the NCS information evening. He is certainly my son.
That reminds me - I still need to know which eTwinner looped the loop over Salisbury cathedral...

One of those days.
Some smiles hidden in there even if the biggest was simply for arriving home and spending a small fortune on Internet shopping...

Must not forget.
I. Am. Amazing!

John brought home a Yantra mat. It's for relaxation and features little sun shaped prongs. It was odd at first but was quite relaxing in the end. However, this is what it did to my back.
And here are more satisfied customers.

I know some think I'm mad getting up early on Saturday mornings to go for a run but on a morning like today it was well worth it for the sunshine and views. No records broken today but I didn't look at my watch once which pleased me as it meant I was enjoying myself and don't focussing on speed; there was no need!

Jude had a concert this afternoon as part of Birmingham Schools Concert Band. St. John's Hall Green has magnificent windows!

And John is home! Whoop!

I spoke at a conference today which made me smile for a number of reasons:
Seeing friends.
Reminiscing about brilliant exciting and unforgettable times in Barcelona.
Reflecting on the impact that had on my colleagues and me.
Being given a fluffy owl called Chantal Chouette (rechristened Lesley for some reason as soon as she walked/flew in the door.
Delivering training on using technology in the brand new Ives room, complete with an actual apple (shaped) table!
And in other news, it's Friday, a colleague got engaged and John's home tomorrow. Three great reasons to smile!

Children asking funny questions.
Being told that I'm not wearing shoes by a child as if I didn't know. Then another child, when asked to carry my chair insides free the rounders match, deciding to not only take the chair but also my shoes!
Random plants growing in the garden that I know I didn't plant!
Sunshine at the end of the day.
Booking tickets to Toulouse :)

As I walked into work this morning, not quite awake, I was startled to find a small children dressed as Captain America sitting on the display in the reception area. I was even more startled that there was another young superhero hanging from the ceiling by one hand nearby.
Of course they weren't really children but it was a cheerful way to start the day.
This evening I reminisced about past adventures, especially wonderful times in Barcelona.
The bit in between wasn't so smiley do we'll gloss over that ;)

I was looking forward to trying out some athletics kit this evening but there was no one there when I went so I went for a run on my own  instead. No music so all I could hear was my breathing. And I was more aware of my surroundings. The park really is quite lovely!
And then an interesting sky at bedtime. I'd say that was a 'grumpy' sky. Although I think it's rather attractive too!

It's Monday again. And another Monday that reminded me of a rose bush - nice to look at but potentially painful if you're in the middle of it!
Still, I survived and enjoyed the displays around school about the children's heroes. And the sun was shining when I got home. And I can get to my school stuff in the garage now!

LisaSmiles 172:365

Today is not my favourite day of the year and started worse than normal with John being away and terrible news.
However, the day definitely improved in the afternoon. My cousin's daughter Belle had her first communion and it was a great excuse to get together with some of my extended family. As usual, we ended up laughing a lot. Just what I needed. And Belle looked beautiful!

Park Run once more.
I may have broken my PB if I hadn't ended up heaving in the last 200m.
And I do need to get nearer the front at the start as my Garmin time was 11 seconds faster than my actual time!
However, I did it in well under 28 minutes and it was the fastest I've run since I was ill/hurt my ankle so I will stop whinging ;)

LisaSmiles 170:365

A run - no stopping and no panicking.
Sports Day - even if Rowan came 4th, we were the loudest!
A new running vest.

And Jude is now a member of Birmingham Schools Brass Band :)

I love the fact that people find and send me smiles, and Kathy and Colin must be my most dedicated suppliers! Today we have a smiley wall...
And a smiley guitar! He's a very cheerful chappy!
And my biggest smile of the day was actually caused by a truly thunderous look given to me by a young lady in Y2 at the end of the day because I had not been in her class this morning as usual. "But WHY?" she demanded!
It's nice to be missed!

LisaSmiles 168:365

Lots of things made me smile today including discussing languages with Isaac who was working as my dictionary and grammar sidekick as I planned resources.
Enjoying a cup of tea in the sunshine with a certain small monkey also amused me.
Cabaret rehearsal.
And then the sunset was gorgeous. I had to stop the car to take a photograph!

I'm Lots of smiles today in London as I was speaking at a conference. Loved this sign on the last landing of the stairs before you arrived at the top floor.
And thanks to Sylvie and Janet, there are lots of photos if me in full flow - presenting and sketch noting!
Very tired now but what fun!

LisaSmiles 164:365

In celebration of Isaac being examination free now, we went out for dinner. Nothing makes us smile more than good coffee and chocolate y churros. Well, that's an exaggeration but not too far from the truth ;)

LisaSmiles 163:365

I have had enough of my phone switching off without warning at 30+% battery so am without it whilst I get a new one on the insurance. I'm using my old phone until then and came across this photo from Austria on it which made me smile.
I remember the comment about the zombie grans :)

And Kathy shared this smiley rock picture with me via Facebook too. Thanks!

Twelve boxes of Spanish stickers. This is only one of them. Certainly made y2 smile when they all got a sticker for working hard in Spanish!
An extra long playtime led to two Y1s complaining that they were bored. I told them to make up a story, taking it in turns to 'write' a line. I started it with Once upon a time there was a dragon. They said they'd need paper. I said they should just talk and come and tell me what happened to the dragon when play finished. And they did! Apparently it was a sporty dragon who liked to play not an 'eating people' dragon. Made me smile!
Gambling on the Jousting with y3 this afternoon was noisy but fun.
And John is back; our new super king size bed is huge without him!

Great class assembly on heroes written by y5.
A beautiful day.
Mum's birthday.
And Dad's rose bush is nearly flowered in time for their wedding anniversary.

Very proud Mummy tonight. Jude played in a POP concert (pupils of potential) at St Michaels Church - he was brilliant. The first time I've heard him play a solo in public. Lovely to see two current pupils and four former pupils playing as well. Proud of them too.

Several children said to me today, "You look different Miss." I couldn't work out why; I wasn't wearing my glasses or anything, and I hadn't had my hair done. They did say "in a good way"which reassured me! When I asked a colleague, apparently I did look different. Perhaps it was the sunshine, perhaps it was the amount of times I've been told and told myself "I am amazing." I don't know, but long may it continue!
Community Festival after school and 'temporary tattoos' was my thing. Enjoyed the sneaky ice cream before I came home too; flake, sprinkles and red AND blue sauce ;)

A great weekend of eTwinning, but it's good to be home with my boys! And it was lovely to go for a run in the sunshine and not beat myself up over my time.

And for those at #eTuk15 - picture number 6 was me!

Saturday 6 June 2015

LisaSmiles 157:365

That says it all really.

A great day at the eTwinning National Conference with old friends and new.

We are amazing.

Thanks to John for today's photograph taken at Schipol (I think!) Amused me.

An afternoon in the Life Caravan with Y5 was interesting. I liked the twinkly lights best. And it's amazing how, in spite of all their 'bad boy' posturing, this group of 9-10 year olds still expected - and virtually demanded - to see Harold the giraffe!  We did have an added attraction whilst we waited as a tree surgeon was up a nearby tree cutting off some branches whilst his mate mulched them. Lead to discussion on the need for haircuts!

Running then a conference tomorrow. Smiles predicted but it's all go at the moment!

Wednesday 3 June 2015

LisaSmiles 154:365

The gasp of wonder when Y6 saw their first aura made with Aurasma was worth the stress and bother of teaching them.
Cabaret rehearsal always makes me smile. One of my fellow singers couldn't stop laughing as we sang America from West Side Story at my 'authentic' accent! And then I started channeling my inner Calamity and that was that!
Plus memories of years ago relived -

And today's photo - goats in pyjamas!

A thank you card from a lovely young lady made me cry. But it also made me smile as she's a very smiley little lady, full of energy and so positive when others would be grumpy and negative. Bonne  chance ma petite x

LisaSmiles 152:365

This made me smile as I was about to tell my boss about a quotation that I really liked... And it was already on his wall!
Also smiling at the bemused looks on the kids' faces in their music lesson when the  teacher had us singing Living on a Prayer and I was louder than anyone else. "Do you know this song, Miss?" Er... Yes?!?!
